Course Overview

This course provides a structured, end‑to‑end introduction to delivering UK Dynamic Simulation Model (DSM) compliance using the IES Virtual Environment. Designed for practitioners responsible for regulatory submissions, it guides you through the full compliance workflow, from initial model setup through to the production of final outputs.

You’ll learn how to build and assign compliant constructions, define NCM‑compliant HVAC, domestic hot water, and ventilation systems, and apply these correctly at both whole‑building and space level. The course also covers compliant lighting strategies, renewable inputs, and the critical relationship between the Actual and Notional building models.

Through guided demonstrations, you’ll run DSM simulations, review and interpret results, and generate key outputs including BRUKL reports and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). Practical guidance and expert tips help you avoid common pitfalls and establish a clear, repeatable process for delivering robust, defensible UK compliance results.
