Modelling Ground Contact Constructions
As buildings become progressively more efficient, foundation heat loss represents a larger portion of the total building load and plays a greater role in issues such as plant size, energy use, and summer overheating.
Apache lets us co-simulate with an engine called Kiva TM, which performs a ground coupling heat transfer simulation that has been verified by ASHRAE 140: 2017 to replace steady state methods, where permitted for local compliance
This free course covers the following topics:
- Why is ground-coupling modeling important?
- Existing methods:
- EN-ISO 13370
- ASHRAE F-factor & C-factor
- Absolute Profile Input
- Scripted Profile
- New method: KIVATM
- Introduction
- VE Integration
- Impacts on models
